How much does a tow truck cost?
For a standard passenger vehicle the initial cost for loading and unloading the vehicle is $80.00. Prices will vary depending on the distance traveled. Fuel surcharge and hidden costs is not our style. The price quoted for the description of the service is what you pay.

Do AWD and 4x4 cars need a flatbed tow truck?

Depending on the manufacture specifications, some 4x4 vehicles can be transported with the wheels touching the ground. This is only able to be done when the transfer case features a true mechanical neutral position. What this means is that the transmission will not be mechanically connected to the wheels. It would be like taking the chain off a bicycle. No matter how hard you pedal, no force is transmitted to the wheels.
What do we recommend? Not knowing the current condition of the transmission or transfer case, we don't take any chances. Here's where the options come in. A miniature, but rugged, trailer system called a dolly is what is used to fully lift the side of the vehicle that isn't secured to the tow truck which completely isolates the road from any of the drive wheels. The other option is the conventional flatbed tow truck. We offer both options.

In the case of a flat tire with no spare to install in place. The best option in the event of being stranded on the side of the road would be to move the vehicle to a safe location and call for a tow truck.

Tires that are mismatched in diameter size can cause the wheels to spin at different speeds, causing damage to your vehicle. It is important if a different size spare has to be used, that it is put on the non-driven wheel. For example, a Ford-F150 has a flat rear tire, it is best practice to swap the non-damaged front wheel to the rear and replace the different sized spare to the front (being a non-driven wheel when the vehicle is in 2-wheel drive). In the case that your vehicle is AWD, verify that your spare tire is the same size as the rest before costly damage could occur. It is always best to refer to your car's specific manufacturer's recommendations.
